Fairer Scotland Duty

Fairer Scotland Duty – Health and Social Care Partnerships

The new duty comes into force in Scotland from April 2018. It will place a legal responsibility on public bodies  to actively consider how they can reduce inequalities of outcome caused by socioeconomic disadvantage. The duty applies at strategic level – this will normally include decisions around setting priorities and targets, allocating resources, and commissioning services. Scottish Government will  publish interim guidance, ahead of the introduction of the duty.
