The ARCHIE Foundation was created eleven years ago to support the building of a children’s hospital in Aberdeen. Since then, the charity has contributed over £8m to ‘Make the Difference’ in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, the children’s wards in Inverness and Elgin, and several community hospitals and in the Northern Isles too.
We make this difference by providing cutting edge equipment, specialist staff posts, research posts, family support and, of course, lots of toys! Everything we fund is over and above what the NHS should fund, so everything we do makes a real difference to local children when they are sick.
Every penny donated to the ARCHIE Foundation makes a difference for local children when they need it the most.
Can you organise a fundraising event? Whether it is a ball for 500 people or a dinner party at home where you ask your guests to make a donation for the privilege – every single penny really does help. Our fundraisers do almost everything to raise money. Some run, others bake, a few even jump out of planes! But they all have one thing in common. They all make a difference to local children when they are sick. And we are all very grateful.
Volunteering is crucial to the continued success of the ARCHIE Foundation and plays an important part in every aspect of our work. We always welcome requests from people interested in volunteering regardless of whether or not there is a specific role listed on the website.
Because of its importance, The ARCHIE Foundation takes volunteering very seriously. Volunteers are asked to attend an informal interview to ensure the charity gets the right people for each role and also to ensure you get a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction from the job you will be doing. We also make a commitment to provide suitable training and support to all our volunteers and also to provide you with the facilities you need to do the job.
We are a small team here at ARCHIE but we’re trying to do a big job for local children when they are sick. If you can commit to volunteering on a regular basis and would like to get involved please go to the ARCHIE website which is: www.archiefoundationhome.org.uk and if you select that volunteer section, it will provide you with the information you need and have the form to fill out. There may not be opportunities immediately available but we will keep in touch and would hope to find a mutually beneficial role without too much delay.
