There are many products now available to help people stop smoking:
Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is designed to ease the cravings often felt by a smoker as they try and quit smoking. Cravings are caused by the body no longer having a supply of nicotine which causes symptoms such as headaches, anxiety and irritability. NRT will supply the body with nicotine in a safe format and comes in many forms and can be given free on prescription.
- Mouth Spray
- Nasal Spray
- Mini Lozenges
- Mouth Strips
There are also 2 medications which can be given to help stop smoking, Zyban (Bupropion) and Champix (Varenicline). These medications can be given free on prescription however there is a much more limited range of people who are suitable for its use in comparison to NRT.
