Managed Clinical Network Sexual Health

The sexual health network aims to support and guide all sexual health provision, promotion and prevention, and ensure equitable provision of high quality clinically effective care for all people across Grampian.
The purpose of the MCN is:
- to support the multi disciplinary and multi professional sexual health network which covers Grampian.
- to ensure the network improves patient and service user care in terms of equality, quality, access and appropriateness through an integrated service across health, local authority and voluntary sector settings.
- to ensure all work is in line with local and national sexual health strategies and NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (QIS) standards for Sexual Health Services.
- to support and guide the work of relevant network sub-groups (e.g. training and education, IT development, Sexual Health Operational Group).
The Sexual Health MCN was successfully accredited in 2010.

Managed Care Network Hepatitis C

Funded by the Scottish Government, as part of the National Action Plan the development of the Grampian Managed Care Network (MCN) for Hepatitis C is progressing. The aim of the MCN is to ensure equitable provision of high quality, clinically effective care to Hepatitis C patients throughout Grampian. Its objectives are to:
- Improve and deliver safe, timely and effective care in the right place for those with Hepatitis C.
- Support NHS Grampian in improving the health of the population in Grampian by working collaboratively with Public Health and partners to identify and develop plans to tackle health inequalities within Hepatitis C.
- Support a consistent approach to improving efficiency, productivity and sustainability.
- Continue to develop staff within Hepatitis C services to support the delivery of the network.
- Contribute to the development of the three year Grampian Health Plan.

Managed Clinical Network Coronary Heart Disease

The aim of the MCN is to ensure equitable provision of high quality, clinically effective care to CHD patients throughout Grampian. Its objectives are to:
- review the epidemiology of cardiac disease in Grampian
- advise on and oversee the development of a strategy for CHD on behalf of NHS Grampian which is consistent with the CHD National Strategy and the needs of the population
- lead the input to the Local Health Plan and to facilitate the inclusion of CHD within Joint Health Improvement Plans
- stimulate and co-ordinate the development of integrated care pathways that cover the management of patients through their care journey
- review the effectiveness of current services and use of resources and to co-ordinate bids for new resources specifically targeted at CHD
- develop a prioritised and costed implementation plan for the prevention and treatment of CHD in Grampian consistent with the Grampian strategy and the recommendations of the CHD National Strategy
- monitor performance against the development plan
- develop and implement a quality assurance framework programme in partnership with clinical teams, patients and Quality Improvement Scotland (QIS)
- link between local services and regional planning groups for CHD.

Managed Clinical Network Diabetes

The Diabetes Service in Grampian is a co-ordinated network of professionals aiming to deliver care to those individuals with diabetes in a location and timeframe acceptable to those individuals and their carers. Patients and providers work together continuously within this network to improve this level of care. Further information about the Network can be found from the website. Managed Clinical Network for Eating Disorders

The Managed Clinical Network was set up in early 2006 by the North of Scotland planning group to develop a network for Tayside, Grampian, Highland (including Argyll & Bute), Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles.
The draft aims of the MCN are to
- Effectively and actively manage network activities
- Deliver evidence based services through the implementation of guidelines
- Improve patient care in terms of quality, access and experience
- Implement a quality assurance programme
- Involve patients/carers in service development
- Develop and implement effective clinical and information management systems
- Develop opportunities for training and supervision
- Support research and continuing professional development

Stroke Training for Health and Social Care Staff
The Stroke Training and Awareness Resources (STARs) Project was commissioned by the Scottish Government to produce an e-learning resource which would enhance the educational opportunities for health and social care staff working with people affected by stroke.
The website aims to provide an interactive way of learning and uses quizzes, animations, video clips and case scenarios. There are assessments which the learner may opt to undertake and which, if passed, gives a certificate of completion.
The project is being led by Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland and the University of Edinburgh and is supported by a national steering group of expert stroke clinicians.
In Scotland the STARs website provides a valuable additional resource to a comprehensive range of stroke education and training opportunities.
