Planning an Evaluation: Support Tool
Welcome to the Evaluation Support Tool. The aim of this tool is to support you in planning an evaluation. Planning your evaluation carefully is critical to it going well.
The tool takes you through a series of 23 questions. These questions are the thing that you need to consider when planning an evaluation of your project. Your project might be a change in service / new service / intervention / policy that you are planning to evaluate.
What will you get
A copy of your answers. You can use these as the starting point to write your evaluation plan. Here is an example of the output from the evaluation support tool and how you can convert this into an evaluation plan.
It is up to you how much you write for each question. The more specific and detailed your answers are now, the better planned your evaluation will be.
What it will do
- It will point you to the key issues that you will need to consider in planning your evaluation
- Provides definitions and explanations of terminology and methods
- Provides guidance as to who can help you
- It is a place to store your evaluation plans and final reports...a resource for your own use in the future
- It will let the evaluation support group learn about the types of evaluations being undertaken in Grampian and be able to tailor help better in the future.
What it won't do
- It won't do your evaluation for you
- It won't analyse your data
- It won't give you the answers - there are links and guidance as you go through but there is no 'one way' to do your evaluation. This tool is to help you think it through
- Make your evaluation plans and reports visible to all. Only you and NHS Grampian EESG will have access to the information
