Welcome to the web pages of Health Intelligence. Health Intelligence came into being in December 2006 following the merger of Public Health Intelligence and the Information Management division of eHealth. To read our Charter click the link.
NHS Grampian aspires to improve the health of the population through effective service planning, organization and delivery. Key to this is the application of evidence and information. Intelligence and information systems that hold real-time data must be able to provide easy access to high quality analysis, evidence and know-how. The primary function of the Health Intelligence Team is to provide and translate information into actionable evidence to support a culture of knowledge-based planning and decision-making. It plans to do this by fostering collaborative working, where knowledge is shared across boundaries and accessible to all.
In its Corporate role, Health Intelligence develops, manages, and undertakes research projects to support epidemiological review, strategy development and service evaluation. It identifies gaps in the knowledge base and works with others to improve data quality. It evaluates local health services to identify what action should be taken to improve them, including working with national performance indicators.
In its Operational Support role, Health Intelligence provides healthcare professionals with access to patient information securely and easily, whenever it is needed. It responds to requests for performance and planning data and analysis, be they ad-hoc or statutory. A close working relationship is maintained with eHealth to ensure that the application of information technologies is optimised. One of the most exciting advances concerning data retrieval has been the application of Business Objects [BO] software to the Patient Administration System [PAS]. BO is a sophisticated query, reporting and data analysis tool, which makes it easy for users to access and report information concerning all aspects of PAS. The BO Login Request form can be downloaded - the Business Objects team will do the rest. Please note - this hyperlink requires NHS Grampian intranet access
