Aberdeenshire CHP Public Health Team
Aims
To lead, co-ordinate and facilitate consistent, evidence based approaches to public health across Aberdeenshire, in order to reduce health inequalities and improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Aberdeenshire.
Objectives
- Develop, implement and evaluate public health action to maximise the effectiveness of the Joint Health Improvement Plan (JHIP).
- Develop and support the role of multi-agency partners and all health professionals as improvers, by building public health capacity throughout the Community Planning Partnership
- Support links between locally delivered health services and the community planning structures to improve health and wellbeing of the population of Aberdeenshire
- Promote and support a community development approach to health and wellbeing, to enable both individuals and communities to take more responsibility for their own and their families health and to promote social inclusion.
Aberdeenshire Public Health Team

Through redesign of the Aberdeen Public Health team there area now six areas which match local community planning areas and will be the same as the local areas for the CHP following the CHP redesign (see map). Further details with locations and contacts available from the team update.
- Caroline Clark formerly PHC for North Aberdeenshire - now Advanced PHC (Banff & Buchan)
- Calvin Little formerly PHC for Central Aberdeenshire - now Advanced PHC (Buchan)
- Fiona Murray formerly PHC for South Aberdeenshire - now Advanced PHC (Kincardine & Mearns)
- Carolyn Lamb appointed as Area PHC for both Formartine & Garioch areas.
- Dawn Tuckwood formerly HIO (Schools) now appointed as Area PHC for Marr.
Further changes are as follows:
- Linda Watt (HIO Drugs & Alcohol) is now seconded to Aberdeen Foyer until May 2012 as Buchan Alcohol Project Co-ordinator and will be replaced for the time of the secondment by Christine Herron - starts 8th August.
- Susan Forbes (Smoking Cessation Co-ordinator & HIO (Strategy) will be away on maternity leave from 5th August 2011.
- Jill Smith formerly AHIO has been appointed temporarily as Smoking Cessation Co-ordinator (maternity cover).
- Sandra Macallister formerly AHIO has been appointed as Keep Well Co-ordinator (temporary post).
Following changes to the budget within Education, Learning & Leisure (Aberdeenshire Council), it has been decided to redesign and the HIO (Schools) post and AHIO posts will be replaced during this year with a single HIO (ELL) post.
