Aberdeen City Public Health Team commissioned two pieces of work in 2010. The first is an option appraisal of a centrally based community kitchen. This study, prompted by the proposed closure of Summerhill Community Centre which had hosted the community kitchen since 2004, considers the way forward for a centrally based community kitchen within Aberdeen.
The second, a food and health scoping study provides an overview of current and ongoing food and nutrition activity being delivered in both public and voluntary sectors in Aberdeen.
The information gleaned from both studies will help to inform the future direction for planning interventions to address health needs.
