Welcome to NHS Grampian's Health Promoting Health Service (HPHS) site.  We all have a major role to play in improving the health of patients, staff and the wider community; this site will provide you with the tools to support you in your role as a health promoter.

 

This site will provide you with a step by step guide on:

  • The HIO - Acute Sector, Hazel Dempsey, can be contacted on hazeldempsey@nhs.net, tel 555231.
  • HPHS is a project planning framework which highlights the essential factors required to ensure health improvement planning and activities are effective, equitable and sustainable.  Examples of project plans, local and national case studies, how to evaluate your project and how to secure funding are available.
  • The Health Promoting Hospital is a World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative the aim is to ensure that a standard for health improvement is met within the hospital setting.
  • How to access health improvement training, information -HPHS, Public Health Training on - tobacco, food and health, mental health.
  • Current health campaigns, top tips on how to run a campaign and example of health improvement displays

  • Current Health Promoting Groups within the Acute Sector:
    • Acute Sector Public Health Group:  Provides a strategic steer for public health agenda within acute services.
    • Healthy Working Lives:  working towards providing opportunity to improve their health & well being whilst in the workplace, Link workers from key areas meet monthly to discuss.
    • Acute Sector Tobacco Group: working to support staff, patient and visitor who want to stop smoking by embedding the smoking advice service throughout secondary care.
    • Acute Sector Alcohol Group:  aims to support patient, staff and visitor to address the complex challenges surrounding alcohol.
    • Acute Sector Health Inequalities Group:  working to address areas of health inequality within the patient population in secondary care. 
    • Healthy Working Lives Group: Group chaired by Adam Coldwells, portfolio to be submitted in December 2009.
