Health Promoting Schools feature as a key issue in the Community Planning process in Moray, under the theme "investing in children and young people"; linking to multi-agency and community involvement initiatives such as Local Community Networks, locality planning for health improvement and local neighbourhood forums.
The Moray Council and NHS Grampian have invested in a joint funded post for a number of years to support the implementation of the Health Promoting school initiative.
Health Improvement Officer,
Susan Leslie currently supports schools in Moray to work towards becoming Health Promoting Schools and also supports and monitors the development of the Health Promoting School initiative across Moray on behalf of The Moray Council and NHS Grampian.
Becoming a Health Promoting School provides a way for each school to listen to and take account of the views of the whole school community - children and young people, parents and staff. Schools are encouraged to take a community development approach, working through a
7- stage process developed jointly by The Moray Council, NHS Grampian, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils.
